Overview

El Parque Nacional Calilegua está ubicado en las Sierra de Calilegua en la provincia de Jujuy. Fue creado en 1979. Su superficie supera las 70.000 hectáreas. Es así, el área protegida más grande de nuestro país dedicado a la preservación y conservación de las selvas tropicales de montaña.

Este escenario natural alberga una vegetación variada que conforma un paisaje heterogéneo. Durante el camino pueden identificarse tres ambientes bien diferenciados: la selva pedemontana, la selva montana y el bosque montano. Además, pueden observarse cientos de especies de aves. Tal es así, que el Parque Nacional Calilegua alberga el 50% de las especies de aves que habitan nuestro país. En cuanto a mamíferos se destaca la presencia del yaguareté y lo acompañan el yaguarundí, el ocelote, gato del pajonal y el puma.

Para conocer el Parque Nacional Calilegua, partimos desde Jujuy hasta Libertador San Martín. A pocos kilómetros nos encontramos con la entrada al Parque, donde recorremos diversos senderos de diferente dificultad, dependiendo del grupo. Existen en total nueve senderos para apreciar las bellezas del paisaje de yungas. Luego del trekking seguimos en vehículo, pasando por algunas vistas panorámicas increíbles de la selva, hasta llegar al puesto del Guardaparque la Mesada de las Colmenas. Como opcional, siguiendo por ese camino se accede al Río Jordán y a unos 10 km más a San Francisco, donde se encuentran servicios para comer y descansar en una comunidad representativa del Ramal. También se encuentra la posibilidad de ir hasta Aguas Calientes y disfrutar de las Termas de Caimancito.

Luego de haber disfrutado del día conociendo el Parque Nacional Calilegua, emprendemos el viaje de regreso.

  • Llevar protector solar, repelente de insectos, gorro, lentes y abrigo.

Observaciones:

  • Menores: Niños hasta 3 años cumplidos free. Desde 4 años cumplidos a 6 años cumplidos abona tarifa “niños”. A partir de 7 años abona tarifa “adulto”.
