Ischigualasto and Talampaya: complete visit is a proposal of 4 days and 3 nights to get to know in depth two dazzling national parks.
Talampaya National Park is located in the central western part of the province of La RiojaIt is located near Villa Unión (60 km). It was created on July 10, 1997. It has an area of 213,800 hectares belonging to the eco region Monte de Sierras y Bolsones. In 2019, it was chosen as one of the 7 Natural Wonders of Argentina.
Ischigualasto Provincial Park (San Juan), has an extension of 63,000 hectares. It is more commonly known as "Valle de la luna", which together with Talampaya form a single continuous unit, a single Ischigualasto-Talampaya site where the sediments of the entire Triassic period can be seen outcropping on the surface. The natural boundary between the two parks, and at the same time the interprovincial boundary, is the top of the low mountainous formation called Sierra Morada. This falls abruptly to the west, so when seen from the Valle de la Luna it is called "Las Barrancas Coloradas".
In the year 2000, UNESCO declared the area composed of the Talampaya National Park and Ischigualasto Provincial Park, calling them Ischigualasto / Talampaya Natural Parks.
The full day excursion departs early from the city of La Rioja from the downtown hotels, to go to Ischigualasto Provincial Park, better known as Valle de la Luna (Moon Valley). We arrive at the Visitor's Center, where tickets are purchased. We enter the circuit in our vehicles in caravan and with a Park Guide leading the same, making a journey of 3 hours. At the end of the tour we continue our trip to Talampaya Park. We arrive after noon at the Visitor's Center, where we buy the tickets and the activity or experience we want to do.
