To make this excursion to Termas El Sosneado, we set out to San Rafael.

Located only 60 km from the RN40 in the department of San Rafael, this imposing volcano, El Sosneado "where the sun is first seen" of 5169 meters above sea level, is the southernmost peak to exceed 5000 meters above sea level in the Andes Mountain Range. From here, it begins to lose altitude, until it becomes a plain towards the south of the Argentine Republic. In this area (Valle de Las Lágrimas) occurred the sad event starring the Uruguayan rugby team Old Christian, who suffered a terrible plane crash in 1972, which gave rise to the famous film "Viven".

Throughout the tour we will be accompanied by the immensity of the mountain range. We will see mountain formations, valleys, ravines, rivers, small streams, lagoons, old bridges and historical references, among other things.

It is worth mentioning that the famous and emblematic Hotel Termas El Sosneado is located in this area. This hotel operated between 1938 and 1953 and was later abandoned. In it used to stay personalities of the high society of that time. A building of great infrastructure, built in concrete and stones of the area. After being abandoned it was looted. Today only its ruins remain, but its majesty and elegance can still be appreciated.

The Sosneado area is ideal for the practice of adventure sports activities. Trekking, horseback riding and mountain biking. And for those who need a moment of relaxation, in the imposing setting offered by the Cordillera, it is advisable to take a thermal bath in the outdoor pools of "Las termas del Sosneado", which have become famous for the quality of its waters and its healing powers.
