Overview

San Martín de los Andes is an emblematic Patagonian city located on the shores of Lake Lácar and surrounded by the majesty of Lanín National Park. Attractive by nature, it has a particular architecture, made of stone and wood, and offers incomparable landscapes, which make San Martín de los Andes one of the most chosen cities by tourists. The road of the 7 lakes is a stretch of Route 40, which joins the localities of San Martin de los Andes and Villa La Angostura. It owes its name to the fact that seven lakes can be seen along its route.

Traveling 20 km along Route 237, take Route 231. Along a winding, tree-lined road that runs along the northern shore of Lake Nahuel Huapi, you reach Villa La Angostura. A few kilometers ahead begins the fully paved Seven Lakes Road.

The first lake that we will find during the tour will be the Lake Mirror. It owes its name to its crystal clear, clean and calm waters that reflect the beauty of the surrounding landscape.

The next lake will be the CorrentosoIt is characterized by its crystalline green waters.

Then we will visit Lago HiddenThe green tones are outstanding.

Next on the tour will be Lake VillarinoIt is a large, spacious area, framed by a forest of coihues and mountain ranges.

Continuing along the 7 Lakes Trail, we will find the next one, Lake Falknerwhich has wide sandy beaches.

The lake before last is the Machónicolocated at the foot of the Andes, surrounded by coniferous and fagaceous forests, stands out for its calm waters of a dark blue color.

We entered San Martín de los Andes bordering the lake. Lácarthe last on the route. It is characterized by its large number of bays, beaches and cliffs. It has numerous bathing resorts, and different lake activities can be carried out there.

After touring the city and having lunch, we return again by the Seven Lakes Road to San Carlos de Bariloche.

08.00 hs - Beginning of the excursion to San Martín de los Andes by the 7 lakes route.

At the appointed time our guide will pick you up at the hotel and we will start our trip to visit this majestic stretch of Route 40.

Route of the 7 lakes

The first lake that we will find during the tour will be the Mirror Lake. It owes its name to its crystal clear, clean and calm waters that reflect the beauty of the surrounding landscape.
The next lake will be Correntoso, which is characterized by its crystalline green waters. Then, we will visit Lago Escondido, which stands out for its green tones.
Next on the tour will be the Villarino Lake, of ample dimensions, which is framed by a forest of coihues and mountain ranges.
Continuing along the 7 Lakes Trail, we will find the next one, Falkner Lake, which has wide sandy beaches.
The last lake before last is the Machónico, located at the foot of the Andes, surrounded by coniferous and fagaceous forests, it stands out for its calm waters of a dark blue color.
