Adventure on ice! The "Big Ice" experience is designed for those who are looking to experience the Perito Moreno Glacier in an exciting way. Getting involved with the environment and walking ice roads in the immensity of the Glacier.
Considered the eighth wonder of the world, the Perito Moreno glacier consists of an imposing mass of ice surrounded by forests and mountains. Its majesty leaves visitors astonished. This wonder of nature is located inside the Los Glaciares National Park, in front of the Magallanes Peninsula, 78 km. away from the city of Magallanes. El Calafate.
Among its varied fauna, we can find flamingos, swans, condors, eagles, guanacos and pumas, among others. And as far as its flora is concerned, the lenga, ñire and guindo stand out.
You will start this "Big Ice" excursion at the "Bajo de las Sombras" port. There you will take a boat to cross the Brazo Rico, where you will disembark 15 minutes later on the opposite shore. The mountain guides will help you put on your crampons and start the approach crossing. The trail runs along the southern slope of the Perito Moreno Glacier, and in just over an hour you will find a spectacular viewpoint, which will allow you to access the ice. Once on the glacier you will be able to glimpse blue lagoons, deep crevasses, huge sinkholes, magical caves, and the unique sensation of feeling in the center of the most amazing glacier in the world. Always accompanied and instructed by expert guides, you will explore the nooks and crannies of the glacier for 3.30 hours. You will also walk along the footbridges for about an hour and a half. The hike is demanding.
